A moment of silence for SMS+
Yup folks, if you haven’t heard the news by now, our SMS+ gateway is no longer available. If you have friends who use our service, do help us tell them to send their updates to our primary gateway, SMS, 9634-6465, instead.
The reason, to put it simply, is because the SIM card of the number that you SMS to was discontinued by the service provider, and as a result we will not be able to retrieve the updates that you have sent to this gateway.
It is indeed unexpected and unfortunate, but it is definitely not excusable. We have let you down and for that we are truly sorry.
It’s been a pretty rough weekend for us, diagnosing the initial problem and subsequently trying to inform all of you about the issues with the gateway. We know that you’re upset about your missing updates, and we’ve tried our best to let you know that your complaints have been heard. Trust us when we say that we understand your frustration - it hasn’t been easy knowing so many of our users were affected.
That said, we believe that there’s opportunity in adversity, and we’re taking this chance to set up a gateway which will be much more reliable than the old SMS+. We’re hoping to have it available soon too, but do know that we’re continuously making changes to improve our service. Suggestions for names for this gateway are welcome!
SMS+ left our world on March 13, 2010 at approximately 1730hrs - its passing will no doubt be a lesson learnt for all of us.
Yours,
The sgBEAT Team
